Suppose you wanted to select a representative random sample of students on your campus for a face-to-face interview. How would you ensure that your sample was random as well as representative of the student population?
I use the concept of stratified random sampling to ensure that sample was random as well as representative of the student population. I divide the population into groups on basis of age. Strata 1 is students in age group (5-12); strata 2 is students in age group (12-13) and strata 3 is students in age group of (13-14) ; strata 4 -> age group (15-16). I randomly select 5 students from each of these strata’s. Hence my sample size is 5*4 = 20. And this sample is a random as well as a good representative of population. Also, results based on this sample are reliable.
