Difference between paired sample and independent is that in paired sample data comes from same observation but for indepdendent sample data comes from completely unrelated observations.

e.g. Suppose we are collecting height and weight for each of the student in a school. It is an example of paired sample because we are taking height and weight by using same observation. So they must be dependent.

Now cosider suppose we are taking heights from one school and weights from another shcool. It is an example of independent sample because we are taking height and weight by using different observations. So they must be independent..
