People who wrote about a time when their lives were unfair were more frustrated (M = 2.45, SD = 1.21) than were people who wrote about a time when they were bored (M = 1.94, SD = 1.11), t(103) = 2.25, p = .03.

What are two possible interpretations?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

we are given that
m1 = 2.45 and sd1 = 1.21

m2 = 1.94 , sd2 = 1.11

the first interpretation is that the mean of the time when they were bored is less and at the same time the spread is less when compared to m1 and sd1 , this means that the values for the bored group are more concentrated towards the central measure

again considering an alpha of 0.05 , we see that the p value is 0.03

we know that if

p value < alpha then we reject the null hypothesis

and conclude that the results are signficant

remember it would be a 1 tail t test as we are interested in the "more frustated" part of the question
