A scatterplot is a type of data display that shows the relationship between two numerical variables. Each member of the dataset gets plotted as a point whose (x, y)(x,y)left parenthesis, x, comma, y, right parenthesis coordinates relates to its values for the two variables.

The scatter plot tells us three things:

STRENGTH:strong or weak

FORM-linear or any relationship.

DIRECTION-positive,negative,no correlation.

This helps us to decide the approximate correlation between the two variables under study.

Hence its important to visualize the relationship in a scatterplot before performing a correlation.
