Explain the difference between a matched pairs experimental design and a randomized ex- perimental design. How does this difference affect the statistical tests that we perform on the data gathered?
In a matched pairs design, one would usually have the a pairing available. The pairing could range like before and after or say a husband and wife where there is a relationship between both the pairs. What matters are the overall differences between the pairs and their standard deviations.
On the other hand in the randomized sample, there would be no relationship between the two samples, Both the samples are independent of each other. What only matters are the individual samples mean and standard deviations.
Both the tests have usage in different tests.
