1. A soda plant will halt production if the average volume of the products is less than 10 ounces. A sample size of 15 was taken at random from the production line. Explain what model you are supposed to use in order to determine the estimated average volume of the production line. Also, explain what conditions you need to meet.

Answer 1

To estimate the volume we will use sampling distribution of sample mean and to test the hypothesis or statement that the average volume of products less than 10 ounces ,we will use t distribution or test for one sample mean.

But to use the sampling distribution of sample mean for small sample we have to assume that the population is normally distributed .

So the condition that population from which sample is taken should be normally distributed should be met.
