When is a paired test appropriate in statistics?

When is a paired test appropriate in statistics?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

When two samples are dependent samples or related samples, and we want to test for the difference between the two paired populations, then we can use a paired t test for the difference between the two population means. For this test, we need two paired samples. Two samples should be paired, i.e., all observations in the first sample should be one-to-one related to the observations in the second sample. Also, the differences between the paired observations would be approximately normally distributed for using this paired t test.
