When evaluating the results of the use of one of our one hypothesis tests we can use either the critical value method or the p-value method. While both methods will reach the same conclusion as to whether to reject or not reject our null hypothesis, most researchers prefer the p-value test. Why is this preferred over the critical value tests?
Both critical value and p value give same result during testing hypothesis. In p value you need to compute only one value ( i.e p value) . But in critical value test you need to compute both critical values and need to see if our observed statistics score lies between those values .
So p value approach require only one computation so most of the statistical research software and calculator uses the P value approach . If P value is Greater than significance level (alpha) then null hypothesis is not rejected .. else rejected . Which makes it simple in computation .
