A scientist believes that one compound called CLDX1 is able to cause cancer by inhibiting the function of p53 and tumor suppressor gene. He treats 10 mice with CLDX and compares them with 12 mice treated with a control, called the coadjuvant. He follows them for two years and records the number of tumors found in individual mice. Results are given below. 1. Create a graph that plots these results. Making sure that you include error bars and t-test results. Also include a figure legend and don’t forget to label everything correctly. You should use Excel to create that graph and then paste it right next to the table.

What is the p-value of your t-test?

3-Write ONE sentence explaining what these p-value means.

4-Write ONE sentence stating the major conclusion from your data analysis.

Answer #1
t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Unequal Variances
CLDX1 control
Mean 4.9 1.5
Variance 3.211111 1.909091
Observations 10 12
Hypothesized Mean Difference 0
df 17
t Stat 4.906445
P(T<=t) one-tail 6.67E-05
t Critical one-tail 1.739607
P(T<=t) two-tail 0.000133
t Critical two-tail 2.109816

P-value = 6.67E-05 , which is less than 0.05 means it is statistically significant.

We have enough evidence to support the claim that the mean of CLDX1 is greater than control . ie. CLDXq causes Cancer

Please tell me how one cell in your body became a cancer cell. The story you tell should lead to troat cancer, be DETAILED, and include all of the following: •A timeline for transformation from normal to cancer cell (1) •Specific genes that when mutated will increase cancer risk (genes like p53, Rb, Cyclin, Kras) (2) •One gene must be MET and describes a mutation in this gene and use it to characterize effects on cell cycle control, apoptosis, or...

Problem Set 3: One-Way Randomized ANOVA (7 pts) The following are data from a hypothetical study of eating patterns among people in different occupations. Bus drivers, school teachers, and administrators completed an eating pattern survey. The following data is each participant’s mean Junk Food score, with higher numbers indicating more consumption of junk food (interval scale of measurement). Select the appropriate statistical analysis to answer whether there is a difference among these three groups in terms of eating patterns. BUS...

Sometimes the extent to which two groups differ is quite obvious. For example, if one group of individuals has an average of 20 speeding tickets, while another group has an average of 2, we can be pretty sure that the difference is statistically significant. But sometimes it is less clear. What if one group had an average of 10, while the other had an average of 7? T-tests provide a way to determine if differences between means are enough to...

Cpp Task: Create a class called Mixed. Objects of type Mixed will store and manage rational numbers in a mixed number format (integer part and a fraction part). Details and Requirements Your class must allow for storage of rational numbers in a mixed number format. Remember that a mixed number consists of an integer part and a fraction part (like 3 1/2 – “three and one-half”). The Mixed class must allow for both positive and negative mixed number values. A...

Problem Set 2: Pearson’s correlation (7 pts) Research Scenario: Is there a positive relationship between grit and GPA in high school seniors? A researcher examined this issue by having students beginning their senior year of high school complete a grit inventory using a Likert-based scale (range 1 – 7), where higher numbers indicate more “grit”. GPA was self-reported (scale 0 – 4.0). Enter the data shown here into SPSS to assess whether there is a positive relationship between grit and...
