Self‐reported injuries among left‐ and right‐handed people were compared in a survey of 1986 college students in British Columbia, Canada. Of the 180 left‐ handed students, 93 reported at least one injury, and 619 of the 1716 right‐ handed students reported at least one injury in the same period. Arrange the data in a 2 × 2 table and calculate the proportion of people with at least one injury during the period of observation for each group.
( note :total students re coming 180+1716=1896 and not 1986 as given in starting)
below is 2X2 table:
left handed | right handed | total | |
no injury | 87 | 1097 | 1184 |
at least one | 93 | 619 | 712 |
total | 180 | 1716 | 1896 |
proportion of people with at least one injury during the period of observation for left handed group
=93/180=0.5167
proportion of people with at least one injury during the period of observation for right handed group
=619/1716 =0.3607
