In a statistics class of 42 students, 28 have volunteered for community service in the past. If a student is selected at random from this class, what is the probability that the student has: (Round your answers to two decimal places)

1) Volunteered for community service?

2) Not volunteered for community service?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We have total 42 students in a class.

28 have volunteered for community service in the past.

Therefore 42 - 28 = 14 have not volunteered for community service in the past.

We are selecting one student at random.

1) probability that the student has Volunteered for community service = 28 / 42 = 0.67

P( student has Volunteered for community service ) = 0.67

2) probability that the student has Not Volunteered for community service = 14 / 42 = 0.33

P( student has Not Volunteered for community service ) = 0.33

Hope this will help you. Thank you :)
