1. What are time series measurements?

1. What are time series measurements?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Time series measurements are those measurement which we take or measure after specific time duration.

For example, suppose we want to measure the length of plant, which is planted 7 days ago and we will measure the length of plan for each week.

So, this measurement of plant length will complete on the basis of specified time duration, i.e. weekly time duration.

All the measurements that we will be taking for plant length on weekly basis, are the time series measurement.

It is important to keep the time difference equal or constant for each time series measurement, otherwise it will not be considered as time series measurement.

Q. A scientist plans to perform a series of measurements to find the diameter of a particle in nanometer (nm). He believes that the values obtained from the measurements are independent and identically distributed random variables having a common mean ? (the actual diameter) and a common variance of 4 nm. Please estimate the number of measurements he needs to perform so that the average value is accurate to within 0.5 nm, with probability at least 0.95, based on Central...

Identify a time dependent variable in your organization, business, or industry. Collect several measurements of this variable over time. Draw a scatter diagram of this variable versus time. What are your observations? Do you see any trend in the measurements? Explain. Do you see any seasonal variation in the measurements? Explain. Add a trend line to your scatter diagram, and determine the trend equation. Interpret the trend equation.
