1) Describe multiple ways measures of center are affected

2) Describe multiple ways to determine which measure of center is most appropriate to a given situation (mean vs median in a given situation)

Answer #1

1. when a outliar is present in the dataset then generally arithmetic mean is not used as a measure of Central tendency beacuse it affects the mean by it's extreme presence. In such a case median is used as a measure of Central tendency.

2.In cases like open end classes mean can not be calculated so in that cases median is used.

3.when sampling fluctuations is really high in dataset then median is not used in that cases mean is used.

4. both mean and median is rigidly defined so both of them can be used except in the cases mentioned above.

5.when we don't have all the observations but only have order of the observations then also median is used as mean can not be compared.
