The same survey that was described in the previous problem was also given in 2011 to 90 completely different random students. In 2011 the mean number of days per week that students lifted weights was 3.09 days with the same standard deviation of 2.56 days. Recall that in the 2013 survey the mean was 2.78 days with a standard deviation of 2.56 days. Conduct a two-sample hypothesis test to determine whether, using a 5% confidence level, the mean number of days lifting weights in 2013 is different than the mean number of days lifting weights in 2011. Make sure to give your conclusion as a complete sentence and in context.

Example 14.1 (page 360) described NHANES survey data on the body mass index (BMI) of 654 young women. The mean BMI in the sample was x¯¯¯x¯ = 26.8. We are interested in the average amount of time De Anza students spend studying statistics each week. A survey of 32 De Anza students yields a sample average time of 14.4 hours spent studying statistics per week with a sample standard deviation of 1.9 hours. Conduct a hypothesis test using a 5% level of significance, to determine if the average time spent studying statistics each week by De Anza students is less than 15 hours. 1. Also for each, you need to indicate your rationale for selecting that particular test.
