Test Statistic :-

is the pooled estimate of the proportion P
= ( x1 + x2) / ( n1 + n2)
= ( 616 + 576 ) / ( 800 + 900 )
= 0.7012

Z = 5.84

Test Criteria :-
Reject null hypothesis if

= 5.84 > 2.33, hence we reject the null hypothesis
Conclusion :- We Reject H0

There is sufficient evidence to support the claim that hispanics are more likely to support immigration reform than non-Hispanics at alpha = 0.01 level of significance.
