Yes, because mean tells the location since it's a measure of central tendency and median tells the average which is not affected by the outliers.

and once we have them, we need to check whether our desired results are same as what we have got and for that what we do is called hypothesis testing

Hypothesis is a statement about its population and it's parameters.

By doing so, if we get accepted our bull hypothesis H0, we get sure about our results, else not
