Describe an experiment requiring the statistic ANOVA for analysis. Describe the Dependent Variable, the Independent Variable, the Levels of the Independent variable, and make sure you are using the correct types of data for each variable.

Answer #1

An experiment requiring the statistic ANOVA for analysis:

4 independent groups and a continuous outcome measure.

Dependent variable: Systolic blood pressure

Independent Variable: BMI (Underweight, Normal, weight, Overweight, Obese)

We test whether there is a statistically significant difference in mean systolic blood pressures among the 4 groups.

Dependent Variable: Quantitative (value of systolic blood pressures)

Independent Variable:Qualitative (Underweight, Normal, weight, Overweight, Obese)

You have one qualitative independent variable, two levels, a quantitative dependent variable and different participants in each level . b. You have two qualitative independent variables, two levels each, and a quantitative dependent variable. c. Design an experiment situation that would use a one-way independent ANOVA for the analysis. You don’t need to go all out, but provide enough information about your design to make it clear that an ANOVA is a good analysis Do the same thing as above but for a t-test instead

The t statistic compares two groups on one independent variable that has two levels. We can use the t statistic to compare a sample that has a level of an independent variable, or we can use two samples from the same populations and give them two different levels of an independent variable. You will design a two group study with one independent variable for this question. Choose an independent variable that has two levels. The two levels can be 1.)...

“Condition” is the independent variable in the experiment where participants were exposed to a traumatic film. The levels (four groups) for the IV are: 1. No-task control; 2. Reactivation only; 3. Reactivation + Visuospatial task (i.e., playing Tetris); and 4. Visuospatial task (Tetris) only.Participants were randomly assigned to one of the four conditions. Their number of intrusive memories over the next week was recorded (dependent variable). A. State the null and alternative hypotheses for this one-way ANOVA analysis. Null hypothesis...

Regression ____ (b values) indicate how much influence each independent variable has on the dependent variable. Regression analysis serves two main purposes: to define the relationship between variables and to ____ values of the dependent variable using what we know about the existing correlation between the variables. The coefficient of multiple determination, R^2, is interpreted as the percentage of ____ in the dependent variable that is explained by the independent variable.
