Answer #1

Consider, X=Scores on the SAT

middle 10% means (100-10)% = 90% divided into two tails(left and right tail)

90%/2 = 45% into left tail

Z=-0.13..............................................by using =NORMSINV(0.45) or by using Excel command for left tail.

Z=0.13...........................................by using =NORMSINV(1-0.45) or by using Excel command for right tail.
