3) You have some friends who are doing a group project with you. The goal is to test H0 : u = 5 vs H1 : u > 5. They have to go, but before they leave they tell you what they have found. They have a sample mean = 4.8, a critical number x bar ( this would be x with a bar over it ) critical = 4.9, ( xc = 4.9 , where the underline should be on top of the x . ). They also tell you that n = 36 and σ = 1.1. They used some alpha, but they did not tell you what it is.

A). Do you reject the null hypothesis or not? Do you accept the alternative hypothesis? Why???

B) Find α.

c) Find the P-value.

Question 3 This question concerns some concepts about hypothesis testing and confidence interval. For each part below, you must explain your answer. (a) Suppose we are doing a one-sample t test at the 5% level of significance where the hypotheses are H0 : µ = 0 vs H1 : µ > 0. The number of observations is 8. What is the critical value? 3. Suppose you are testing H0 : = 10 vs H1 : 6= 10: The sample is small (n = 5) and the data come from a normal population. The variance, 2, is unknown. (a) Find the critical value(s) corresponding to = 0:10. (b) You find that t = -1.78. Based on your critical value, what decision do you make regarding the null hypothesis (i.e. do you Reject H0 or Do Not Reject H0)?

This project is assigned to give you the chance to apply the knowledge that you have acquired in statistics to our Global Society. The following data has been collected for you and you are going to look at the possible relationships and make some decisions that might impact your life based on the outcomes. To increase the customer count, the chain is considering cutting prices for coffee beverages. The small size will now be $0.57 instead of $0.99, and the medium size will be $0.67 instead of $1.19.
