[5 total pt(s)] Grey seals are capital breeders and stay with their pups until they are weaned. A group of researchers on Sable Island are interested in seeing whether there is a significant difference in the weight of one week old grey seal pups versus two week old pups. They measured the weight of 20 one week old pups, then weighed those same pups again one week later. The researchers found the average weight of adult female grey seals was 245.06 kg, the average weight of one week old pups was 31.81 kg and the average weight of two week old pups was 36.19 kg. The variance of the difference between the one week and two week pup weights was found to be 14.23.

H0: μ1 = μ2
Ha: μ1 ≠ μ2
test statistic= 5.1926

Calculate the 90 % confidence interval for the difference in seal pup weights.

Do we reject the null hypothesis at a significance level α = 0.1?

a)Yes, we reject the null hypothesis

A medical researcher wants to determine if the average hospital stay of patients that undergo a certain procedure is greater than 9.1 days. The hypotheses for this scenario are as follows: Null Hypothesis: μ ≤ 9.1, Alternative Hypothesis: μ > 9.1. If the researcher takes a random sample of patients and calculates a p-value of 0.2003 based on the data, what is the appropriate conclusion? Conclude at the 5% level of significance. The China Health and Nutrition Survey aims to examine the effects of the health, nutrition, and family planning policies and programs implemented by national and local governments. It, for example, collects information on number of hours Chinese parents spend taking care of their children under age 6. The side-by-side box plots below show the distribution of this variable by educational attainment of the parent. Also provided below is the ANOVA output for comparing average hours across educational attainment categories. Df...
