Indicate whether the following statement is true or false.

In hypothesis testing, the p-value should always be larger than the selected level of significance.

True

False

Answer #2

False.

In hypothesis testing, the p -value is sometimes larger than selected level of significance and sometimes smaller than selected level of significance. Hypothesis testing takes appropriate decision by using P value .

First we set up two hypothesis - Null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis.

Null hypothesis means there is no statistically significance difference in our claim. Alternative hypothesis means there is statistically significance difference in our claim.

p-value less than selected level of significance then reject null hypothesis in favour of alternative hypothesis and it is statistically significant. A p-value higher than selceted level of significance so not reject null hypothesis then  it is not statistically significant and indicates strong evidence for the null hypothesis.

Indicate whether the following statement is true or false. If we do not reject the null hypothesis, it is possible we have made both type I and type II errors. In an upper tail hypothesis test for the mean, the critical value is 2.575 and the test statistic is 2.5. In this case, the null hypothesis should not be rejected. The calculated p-value should be divided by 2 to make the decision for a two tail test. The sampling error...
