sample standard deviation = s = 0.62

sample size = n = 40

Degrees of freedom = df = n - 1 = 39

t /2,df = 1.685

Margin of error = E = t/2,df * (s /n)

= 1.685 * (0.62 / 40)

Margin of error = E = 0.17

The 90% confidence interval estimate of the population mean is,

2.72 - 0.17 < < 2.72 + 0.17

2.55 < < 2.89
