1- Your final grade might be A, B, C, D, or F. So, it has five possible outcomes.
a) Rewrite the outcomes of your final grade in a way to make it a Bernoulli experiment. You must define the success and failure in this experiment very well. Also, assign a number to p, which is the probability of success.
b) Define another Bernoulli experiment based on the outcomes of your grade and again assign a number to the probability of success. (So, you have one probability of success in part a and another one in part b. You can assign any number to the probability of success in each part but you should make sure that if I compare those numbers between part a and part b, they make sense.)
a) The grades anyone can get are A,B,C,D and F.
So now i define a random variable X such that , X has success if i get a grade A or B else i take the rest as failure. So the outcomes are either (A,B) or not (A,B).
X follows bernolli distribution with p = 2/5 i.e P(A,B) = 2/5 and q = 1-p = P(not A,B) = 3/5
b) Again i define a random variable Y such that Y defines i failed. So the sucess outcome for this random variable is getting F and failure outcome is not getting F .
So outcomes are getting the grade F or not getting F.
Y follows bernoulli distribution with p = P(F) = 1/5, q = 1-p = P(not F) = 4/5
p is probability of sucess and q is the probability of failure.
