True or False: All hypothesis tests are the same process. Even the formulas we use are the same.

Answer #1

No, all hypothesis process is not the same process. The formulas actually vary with the kind of distribution that we use. For example - the formula for the test for one population mean is completely different from the formula for the chi-square statistic for independence. Hypothesis test can further be paramteric or non-parametric. It is therefore incorrect to classify them as the same process.

True or False 1. Hypothesis tests are robust to the significance level you choose, meaning regardless of the alpha level: .10, .05, or .01, our test will have the same conclusion or result. 2. When evaluating the results of the use of one of our one hypothesis tests we can use either the critical value method or the p-value method. While both methods will reach the same conclusion as to whether to reject or not reject our null hypothesis, most researchers prefer the p-value test. Why is this preferred over the critical value tests?
