1. You want to determine whether diagnosis with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has an impact on academic performance among veteran students at USC. PTSD is stratified into “yes” and “no” categories. GPA is used to measured academic performance. What kind of statistical test would you use?

We are going to test the impact of PTSD on academic performance which is nothing but GPA.

We can use two sample t test.

we can take GPA of students who has PTSD and the students who do not have PTSD.

The yes or no group ( yes group is students who diagnosed withe PTSD and no group is the students who are nor diagnosed with PTSD)

We compare the mean GPAs of each group by performing two sample t test for mean.

Null hypothesis is mean GPA is same for both the groups

Alternate hypothesis is mean GPA is not same for both the groups.

If we reject Null hypothesis we conclude that the PTSD has an impact on academic performance and if we fail to reject null hypothesis we can conclude that there is no sufficient evidence to say that PTSD has an impact on academic performance.
