A population comprised of 30 bats, 15 gloves and 60 balls
of
baseball, if the sampling is random, and without replacement,
a. What is the probability of obtaining a glove if you take an
object
of the population?
b. If a sample is taken from two subjects in the population, find
the
probability of getting a bat and a ball in that order.
c. If 3 objects are taken as a sample of the population, what is
the
probability of getting a bat, glove and ball on that
order?
Number of bats, X=30
Number of Gloves, Y=15
Number of balls, Z=60
Total number of objects , T= 30+15+60=105
a. Probability of obtaining a glove
= Y/T = 15/105= 1/7 = 0.143
b. probability of getting a bat and a ball in that order
= (X/T)*(Z/(T-1))= (30/105)*(60/104)=0.163
c. probability of getting a bat, glove and ball on that
order= (X/T)*(Y/(T-1))*(Z/(T-2))
=(30/105)*(15/104)*(60/103)=0.024
