Consider the following research study: you wish to determine whether or not climate change will impact the feeding behavior of vampire bats. You divide a sample of bats into two groups and keep them in cages, each bat in its own individual cage. The first group is kept at a temperature of 30°C, which (we'll pretend) is about average for their natural habitat. The second group is kept in cages in a lab next door at 33°C. All of the bats are given blood to drink in those bottles that pet hamsters drink out of. At the end of each day, you collect the bottles and record how much blood the bats drank.
The bats in the low temperature condition, on average, drank more blood than the bats in the high temperature condition. For the low temperature condition, mean = 21.5 g blood/day, s2 = 4. For the high temperature condition, mean = 18.75 g, s2 = 5. There were 22 bats in the low temperature condition and 24 bats in the high temperature condition. Please calculate a 2 sample t test to determine if there is a significant difference between the quantity of blood consumed each day in each group. Enter the result of the t test i.e. the t value (not the p value!).
Please do appreciate if the solution is satisfactory. Thankyou!!!
