8.         A colleague of yours is struggling to make a decision on sample size. What advice would you provide to your colleague in terms of larger or smaller sample sizes? Why?

Sample size is a count the of individual samples or observations in any statistical setting, such as a scientific experiment or a public opinion survey.

Too small a sample yields unreliable results, while an overly large sample demands a good deal of time and resources..

So,my suggestion would very much depend upon the kind of job my colleague is referring to.

If the population he is working upon is heterogeneous,ie. the compositions are various,I would advise him to sample different random units from different parts of he population and then work his method,whereas if the sample shows a distinctive pattern ,then he can collect sample from any of those portions of the population.
