What is sampling error?

A.The discrepancy between a sample estimate of a population parameter and the real population parameter

B.The discrepancy between the sample mean and the sample standard deviation

C.The discrepancy between the observed mean of one group in the sample and the observed mean of another group in the sample

D.The discrepancy between two population parameters of interest

Answer #1

The answer is:

A.The discrepancy between a sample estimate of a population parameter and the real population parameter

Sampling error as the name suggests is the error due to sampling. It is error created by sampling because we are selecting a subset of the sample and calculating the test statistic based on that. There will thus be differences from the real population parameter.
