State whether the actual data are discrete or continuous, and explain why. The number of phone calls made each day by the sales representative of a company. Continuous, because the numbers can have any value within some range of values. Discrete, because only counting numbers are used, and no values between the counting numbers are possible.

Answer #1

Solution:

Continuous Data:A data that can take on any value. eg.-age, height, weight etc(here we can see : age can take any possible value Integer or decimal, eg-10 years, 10.2years, 12.4 years etc)

Discrete Variable:A data that can take on only integer values. eg. No. of students in the class, No. of employee in an office etc

Now:

The number of phone calls made each day by the sales representative of a company.:-it is a discrete data because No. of phone calls will always be an integer.

Ans: Discrete Data

A question that I struggled with is listed below. I understand that in the forest there is a vast number of trees, but I thought they could be counted, not easily, but could definitely be counted.  Typically, once I go back to the chapter and review data on a question that I’ve missed I can see why I would have gotten the answer wrong but after re-reading the definition of continuous and discrete data I am still confused. If trees in...
