I need an explanation on how a one-way ANOVA test is different from an independent samples t-test. Please try to include actual real-life examples will make it easier to process the material and easier to help me understand
the only difference is the number of classes in one-way ANOVA test and independent samples t-test
We can apply independent sample t test can be applied only to check for the significant difference among two classes only, where as in case of one-way ANOVA the classes can be two or more.
Eg : suppose you are checking for the significant difference among the weight of male and female employees of a company to understand if there is a difference among the mean weights or not then you will apply independent samples t-test
but, for the same company now you are checking for the significant difference among the different age groups ( say , 20-30, 30-40, 40-50, 50-60 ) of employees of a company to understand if there is a difference among the mean weights or not then you will apply one-way ANOVA test since you have 4 classes
