Answer #1

X: Independent variable: Right Arm

Y: Dependent variable: Left Arm

We have to find best predicted systolic blood pressure in the left arm given that the systolic blood pressure in the right arm is 100 mm Hg.

The regression equation is y = a + b*x

Here a is intercept and b is the slope.

We have to find values of a and b.

By using excel we can find these values.

First, enter data into excel.

Intercept = a = 43.5649

( Using excel =INTERCEPT(Select y values,Select x values))

Slope = b = 1.3147

( Using excel =SLOPE( Select y values, Select x values))

The regression equation is y = 43.5649 + 1.3147*x

x = 100

y = 43.5649 + 1.3147*100 = 175.032

The best predicted systolic blood pressure in the left arm given that the systolic blood pressure in the right arm is 100 mm Hg is 175.032
