In a site assessment for the identification of contaminated source, which one of the following is likely the best and the least favorable: (a) judgmental sampling; (b) simple random sampling; and (c) systematic random sampling? Briefly explain
Here Judgmental sampling is the best and simple random sampling is the least favorable .
Justification : In this assessment , there may be some sources with high probability of contamination , whereas some sources might have almost no chance of contamination.
In SRS we assign every possible sample with equal probability , ie , if we perform SRS it may result in a source which has very little probability of contamination.Performing simple random sampling will provide nothing but bogus results.
Here judgement sampling is the best option , as a skilled investigator will know what the most likely source of contamination would be .
