A researcher wanted to determine if the stereotype that ‘jocks’ do not perform as well as other students on school work holds true among college students or whether athletes’ really perform better because they have GPA requirements for participating in their sport. He randomly selected a single sample of 25 athletes from a local university in which the average student has a GPA of 2.9, with a standard deviation of 0.6 GPA points.
