Suppose a jar contains 597 red marbles and 161 blue marbles. If you reach in the jar and pull out 2 marbles at random, find the probability that both are red.

(Enter your answer in decimal format rounded to 2 decimal places if necessary; do not convert to percentage)

Answer #1

number of red marbles = 597

number of blue marbles = 161

total number of marbles = (597+161) =758

the probability of getting a red marble in the first pull :-

= number of red marbles / total number of marbles

= 597 / 758

the probability of getting another red marble in the second pull :-

= number of red marbles left / total number of marbles left

= (597-1) / (758-1)

= 596 / 757

If you reach in the jar and pull out 2 marbles at random, find the probability that both are red is:-
