Answer #1

Please don't hesitate to give a "thumbs up" in case you're satisfied with the answer

a. P(has a cellphone) = (total own a cell phone)/total = 75/100 = .75

b. P(has a cellphone , given they own comp) = people who own comp and cell / people who own comp = 37/ (45) = 0.8222

c. P(have a comp) = 45/100 = .45

P(own a cell phone) = 75/100 = .75

P(own a comp and cell phone) = 37/100 = .37

If P(have a comp)*P(own a cell phone ) = P(own a comp and cell phone ) , then they are independent events.

.45*.75 = .3375 which isn't equal to .37

And thus, the 2 events aren't independent of each other.
