People with O-negative blood are called “universal donors” because O-negative blood can be given to anyone else regardless of recipient’s blood type. About 6% of people have type O-negative blood. A clinic is running a blood drive. If at least 220 O-negative donors give blood, the clinic will have sufficient O-negative blood for the coming month. If 4000 donors come to the blood drive, what’s the probability that the clinic will not have sufficient O-negative donors?

I am stuck on part b of a problem the question is people with O-negative blood are referred to as universal donors. Only 7.2% of the american population have O-negative blood. If 10 people appear at random, what is the probability that at least one of them is a universal donor? I figured this one to be 1-P(not a univ donor) so 1-.928^10 and ^for the 10 random and come up with 0.5263 the problem I am having trouble figuring...

It is generally believed that only 7% of the population has type O-negative blood (the universal donor). A blood bank is expecting 1000 donors at its upcoming drive. Use the empirical rule (68%-95%-99.7% Rule) to determine what proportion of O-negative donors you might expect to see in the 1000 donors (I'm not looking for the number of O-negative donors, just the proportion). Assume conditions are met!  No need to draw the model, though if you find it easier to do so...

Assume 46% of us have Group O blood. A hospital is conducting a blood drive because its supply of Group O blood is low, and it needs at least 124donors of Group O blood. If 279 volunteers donate blood, estimate the probability that the number with Group O blood is at least 124. Is the pool of 279 volunteers likely to be sufficient?

Knowing your blood type is important not only because it determines who you can donate blood to but also who you can receive blood from. The second most common blood type in Canada is A positive and 36 percent of Canadians share this blood type. The least common blood type is AB negative and only 0.5 percent of Canadians have this blood type. Suppose a random sample of 100 Canadian donors has been chosen at random. In this sample, let...

Exploring Innovation in Action Power to the People – Lifeline Energy Trevor Baylis was quite a swimmer in his youth, representing Britain at the age of 15. So it wasn’t entirely surprising that he ended up working for a swimming pool firm in Surrey before setting up his own company. He continued his swimming passion – working as a part-time TV stuntman doing underwater feats – but also followed an interest in inventing things. One of the projects he began...
