Suppose in one year, total revenues from digital sales of pop/rock, tropical (salsa/merengue/cumbia/bachata), and urban (reggaeton) Latin music in a certain country amounted to $28 million. Tropical music brought in twice as much as urban music, and pop/rock music brought in $4 million more than the others combined. How much revenue was earned from digital sales in each of the three categories?
pop/rock music | $ million |
tropical music | $ million |
urban Latin music | $ million |
Let p = pop/rock revenues, t = tropical revenues, and u = urban revenues, in millions of dollars.
p + t + u= 28 --> equation 1
t = 2u --> equation 2
p = t + u + 4 --> equation 3
Now Solving the equations:-
Put, equ.3 to equ.1,
( T + U + 4 ) + T + U = 28
2T + 2U = 24
2( T + U ) = 24
T + U = 12 --> equation 4
Put equation 2 to equation 4,
2U + U = 12
3U = 12
U = 4
Now put value of U in equation 2,
T = 2 × 4
T = 8
Now put value of U and T in equation 1,
R + 8 + 4 = 28
R = 16
Solution:
Pop (or) Rock = $16 Million
Tropical = $8 Million
Urban = $4 Million
