A normal model can be used for any list of quantitative data which has no outliers. true or false explain

Homework Answers

Answer #1

False

Explanation:

A normal model cannot be used for any list of quantitative data which has no outliers because all quantitative data sets do not have normal nature. Sometimes we get the binomial data of the yes/no type or uniform data which distributed uniformly in the given space. The only condition of data being quantitative in nature without outliers is not enough for using or applying a normal model for this data. As we know that most of the quantitative data sets follow a normal distribution when sample sizes are larger. But some quantitative data set without outliers don’t follow a normal distribution in every condition.

It is assumed that the duration of human pregnancies can be described by a Normal model with mean 266 days and standard deviation 16 days. The results shown in the accompanying analysis of pregnancies were based on this normal model. The duration may not actually follow the normal model, however. Complete a and be below. Pregnancy Analysis Results: i) Assuming the Normal model is true, 21.1% of all pregnancies last between 270 and 280 days. ii) Assuming the Normal model...

Collect some quantitative data (if your data from week 1 is quantitative, you can use it). Find the sample mean and standard deviation. Plot it in a histogram. How much deviation from the curve is to be expected?
