The mean social anxiety score for the 27 Engineering students was 12.59 with a standard deviation of 2.3. The mean social anxiety score for the 33 Communication studies students was 11.04 with a standard deviation of 1.7.

a) Calculate and interpret a 99% confidence interval for the difference in mean social anxiety scores between Engineering students and Communication Studies students. (6 points)

b) Based on the confidence interval you calculated in part A, we are 90% confident that: (1 point)

i. The mean social anxiety score for Engineering students his higher than the mean anxiety score for Communication Studies students.

ii. The mean social anxiety score for Engineering students his less than the mean anxiety score for Communication Studies students.

iii. That is it plausible that there is no difference in mean anxiety scores between Engineering students and Communication Studies students.
