What is the purpose of the scatter plot/diagram?

What is the purpose of the scatter plot/diagram?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

scatter plot shows us data for two variables, where one variable is dependent and other variable is independent variable

Independent variable is plotted on horizontal axis whereas the dependent variable is plotted on the vertical axis

Scatter plot shows data in dots, i.e. for each paired data of x and y, it will show us a dot on the plot

Scatter plot helps us in showing the relationship between two variables, i.e. it helps us in knowing how one variable is changing or affecting the other variable

The initial visual impact of a scatter diagram depends on the scales used on the x and y axes. Consider the following data. x 1 2 3 4 5 6 y 1 4 6 3 6 7 (a) Make a scatter diagram using the same scale on both the x and y axes (i.e., make sure the unit lengths on the two axes are equal). Draw the straight line that best fits the data points. Maple Generated Plot Maple Generated...
