What would be the best statistical test or method to find information relating to classroom students.

For example: I will be sitting in a 3rd glade class room, I will be separating the class based on gender. I want to find out how many students don't pay attention vs students who pay attention while the teacher is looking.

I need to find out what would be the best statistical method to gather the data?

And what would be the best way to present the information.

The best statistical method to gather the data is CENSUS method in which the teacher can observe the students on her own and this kind of data will be primary data.

For this particular example, we can apply distribution test:

We will classify the students according to number of girls paying attention and no. of boys paying attention and no. of girls not paying attention and no. of boys not paying attention.

Then we will put the values in the table below:

Girls Boys Total
Paying Attention
Not Paying Attention
Total

Then solve the problem using chi-square test.
