Using SPSS, test the hypothesis that the percentage of Democrats is the same for male and female students. (α = .05) ------> Both variables are categorical (0=female 1 =male) (1=democrat 0=republican). Looking for what process on SPSS could answer this question

This is comparison of two proportions problem.

Since both variables are categorical, we use chi square test in spss to get the same answer .

Let the variables are gender and party

Use Analyze----Descriptive statistics ------Crosstabs

Select Gender in Rows and party is columns

In the statistics submenu select chi square and continue and ok
