Answer #1

P(fail) = 0.15

P(pass) = 1 - 0.15 = 0.85

a) P(all 10 pass) = 0.8510 = 0.1969

b) p = 0.15

n = 10

This is a binomial distribution.

P(X = x) = 10Cx * 0.15x * (1 - 0.15)10-x

P(X > 2) = 1 - (P(X = 0) + P(X = 1) + P(X = 2))

              = 1 - (10C0 * 0.150 * 0.8510 + 10C1 * 0.151 * 0.859 + 10C2 * 0.152 * 0.858 )

              = 1 - 0.8202

              = 0.1798

MAT 240- Applications of two-sample tests: I believe that the number of people in Maine who drive an SUV is more than the number of people in Florida who drive an SUV. In two separate polls, I found that 323 out of 515 individuals from Maine drive an SUV and 110 out of 455 individuals from Florida drive an SUV. Test this hypothesis with a significance level of .04.

Suppose that there are 2 tests for cancer and a bunch of people from a hospital are getting tested. They are first getting tested by test 1, and secondly, by test 2. Suppose that 90% of those with cancer test positive at Lab 1 and 80% of those with cancer test...
