No. of bags of B

Which manufacturer's bags have the higher average of bursting pressure? Which manufactures would you like to recommend and why? If the buyer does not want to buy bags of more than 16 kg bursting pressure then how does it change your suggestion, if at all?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1)

average of A =wi*xi/xi ;here xi is number of bags and wi is category weight

=(3*11+14*13+30*15+56*17+12*19+5*21)/120=16.25

average of B=(8*11+16*13+23*15+34*17+24*19+15*21)/120=16.58

2)

we should recommend on above information bag type B as it has higher average bursting pressure

if 16 kg is threshold ; then we can select any of A and B ; as they have equal number of bags(47 bags and hence equal proportion) below 16 kg bursting pressure

A manufacturing company is purchasing metal pipes of standard length from two different suppliers, ABC and XYZ. In the past two months there are increasing complaints by the Production Manager that delivery times by ABC present higher variability in comparison to the delivery times by XYZ. The Production Manager is worried that this variability will make it harder to efficiently schedule the production process. Does the sample data indicate a statistically significant difference at the 5% level? Justify your answer....

Please use excel: To assess the effectiveness of a cola video ad, a random sample of 38 individuals from a target audience was selected to participate in a copy test. Participants viewed two ads, one of which was the ad being tested. Participants then answered a series of questions about how much they liked the ads. An adindex measure was created and stored in Adindex; the higher the adindex value, the more likeable the ad. Compute descriptive statistics and perform...

An investment banking firm was considering two spreadsheet software for possible use in its large data analysis operations. A sample of 25 typical analysis problems were carried out using both software on the firm’s standard personal computer. The time in minutes needed to load the data, program the spreadsheet calculations, carry out the analysis, and print the results was recorded for each problem for each software. The data for software A are stored in column 1 of the Excel data...

Many Americans have high blood pressure which can lead to a number of serious conditions including heart attack and stroke. There are a number of drugs available to treat high blood pressure, but researchers are always seeking new ones with fewer side effects. In this experiment, researchers randomly selected 20 women from a pool with high-normal blood pressure to high blood pressure and measured their initial systolic blood pressure (in mm of Hg). They treated the subjects with an experimental...

The data (bloodpressure) (first column is ID) gives the systolic blood pressure (SBP), body size (QUET), age and smoking history (SMK=0 if nonsmoker, SMK=1 if smoker) for a hypothetical sample of 32 white males over 40 years old from the town of Angina. In the problem, we will choose SBP as the response. The two variables QUET and SMK will be considered. Answer the following questions about the separate straight-line regression of SBP on QUET for smokers (SMK=1) and nonsmoker...
