The median is an appropriate measure of central tendency for _____ data.

Answer #1

We know that more the distribution is skewed, the difference between mean and median is also greater and thus the greater emphasis is given on median rather compared to mean. We also know that, the median is usually preferred to other measures of central tendency when we are dealing with ordinal data or with skewed data. For ordinal data, mode is also there, but compared with median, median gets the first choice.

Thus, we can see that the median is usually preferred for ordinal data or skewed data set.

The median is an appropriate measure of central tendency for skewed data.
