A yellow light technically means to stop but many people ignore it and drive through. It is thought that men are more aggressive drivers than women and are more prone to go through yellows. Experimenter stood by one of the traffic light at various times of the day and monitored a random sample of drivers. The results are as follows:

Conduct a hypothesis test at the 5% level of significant to test the claim.

p1 = 51/71 = 0.7183

p2 = 31/53 = 0.5849

Z = (0.7183 - 0.5849)/0.0860 = 0.1334/0.0860 = 1.5512

= 0.05

From able, critical value of Z = 1.645

Since the calculated value of Z = 1.5512 is less than critical value of Z = 1.645, the difference is not significant. Fail to reject null hypothesis.

Conclusion:
The data do not support the claim that men are more aggressive drivers than women and are more prone to go throughyellows.
