There are 20 movies available. 10 ov the movies are action, 6 of them are comedies, and 4 of them are horror. Would the odds of all four movies being action get better or worse if they could repeat movies?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given - total movies= 20

action movies= 10

comedy movies= 6

horror movies =4

If movies are not to be repeated then-

Number of ways 4 movies being selected be action= 10*9*8*7=5040

Total number of ways 4 movies could be selected=20*19*18*17=116280

Probability=0.04334

odds of all moves being action=0.04334/(1-.04334)=0.0453

If movies can be repeated then-

Number of ways 4 movies being selected be action= 10*10*10*10=10000

Total number of ways 4 movies could be selected=20*20*20*20=160000

Probability=1/16=.0625

odds of all moves being action=.0625/(1-.0625)=0.06613

Odds get worse

Kuya conducted a taste-test study of tofu. He gathered 20 of his friends and took them to various tofu dinners on three Sundays. Firstly, a Chinese tofu dinner. He then asked his friends to rate how much they enjoyed the tofu (from 1 to 10 with 1 = hate it, and 10 = love it). The following Sunday, they went for a Thai tofu dinner and collected their ratings. On the third Sunday, he took these (lucky?) friends to a...
