Which statistical test would you compare the expected values of independent samples of unknown number with unknown standard deviation?

The test comparing two independent population means with unknown and possibly unequal population standard deviations is called the Aspin-Welch t-test. The degrees of freedom formula was developed by Aspin-Welch.

What do we use the Ryan-Joiner test?

The Ryan-Joiner statistic assesses the strength of the correlation; if it is less than the appropriate critical value, you will reject the null hypothesis of population normality. This test is similar to the Shapiro-Wilk normality test.
