Think of real-life examples of proportions and how a proportion of a small population could be compared to the proportion of a larger population.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

there are lot of examples of real-life examples of proportions like Proportion of graduates in a country or

proportion of populations that support Democrats in US or Proportion of cancer patients in a country etc are few examples.

now we comparison of the proportion of the small population and large population

let P1 is the proportion of peoples who Support Democrats in the US

P2 is the Proportion of Peoples who support democrates in Newyork

so

Newyork Population is much smaller than that of the whole US

so P1 is Proportion of larger population and P2 is Proportion of smaller population

so here we will compare that both proportions are equal or not

for this, we can use Z test of the difference between two Proportions or we can find the confidence interval for the difference in the Proportion

A two proportion z interval was constructed for the difference in the two population proportions, p1- p2. The resulting 99% confidence interval was (–0.004, 0.12). A conclusion that could be drawn is: A: There is no significant difference between p1 and p2. B: There is a significant difference between p1 and p2. C: The range of possible differences between the two proportions could be from a 0.4% difference with p2 being larger up to a 12% difference with p1 being...

Give me a real-life example of a data distribution that you think is approximately normal, but with a large spread (i.e. large standard deviation). Use Google or other research methods to find the mean and standard deviation to support your claim. What reasons or conditions attribute to the large variation? (Here's my example: income - some people make minimum wage, some people make $134M over 4 years. Think of another example and do some research to find the standard deviation,...

Stats-How is the pooled proportion related to the 2 sample proportions? What distribution is used for the hypothesis test of 2 population proportions? There are 2 statements made about a confidence interval involving the difference between 2 population proportions. Explain the significance of zero if it lies within the bounds of the confidence interval for the difference of 2 population proportions? Does this mean there appears to be a difference between population proportions? Or, does this imply there does not...
